Das kleine, querformatige Gemälde zeigt eine rechts am Ufer der Meeresbucht stehende Häusergruppe im Sonnenlicht, am Horizont erhebt sich stolz die „Lanterna“, der Leuchtturm der Stadt Genua. Im Vordergrund geht eine rot gekleidete Dame vom Meer weg, während direkt hinter ihr ein elegant gekleidetes Paar die Kanus und Segelboote beobachtet, die den Hafen erreichen.
Caffi studierte in den Jahren 1827-29 an der Akademie Venedig, begab sich dann 1832 nach Rom, wo er bis 1848 blieb. (1400821) (19)
