Im Vordergrund ein flaches Gewässer mit einem kleinen Boot, dahinter eine Landzunge mit altem Gatter und einer Kuh und Rinderherde mit wenigen Figuren. Dahinter fällt der Blick auf die ruhige, flache See mit mehreren Segelbooten unter hohem bewölkten Horizont, in dem einige fliegende Vögel erkennbar sind. Der Maler ist bekannt für die auch hier besonders zur Geltung gekommene tonale Landschaftsmalerei, wie wir sie auch bei Pieter de Molijn (1595-1661) oder Salomon van Ruysdael (um 1602-1670) finden. Das Gemälde ganz in differenzierten Brauntönen geschaffen, selbst im gebauschten Wolkenhimmel scheint nur wenig Blau durch. Das vorliegende Gemälde kann zurecht als qualitätvolles Beispiel seines Werkes gewürdigt werden.
