In einer Säulenhalle, deren Flucht in der sonnenbeschienenen Straße einer Stadt endet, sind zwischen den Säulen mehrere Spinnerinnen damit beschäftigt, unter Einfluss von mittels Feuer erzeugter Hitze Seidengarn herzustellen: In warmem Wasser löst sich der Seidenkokon und die Spinnerin ist nun in der Lage, sobald sie ein Ende gefunden hat, ca. 1000 Meter Seide zu entwickeln. Zur Hilfe wurde die Haspelmühle erfunden; solche professionellen Manufakturen gab es in Valencia, Genua und in Lyon. (1401202) (13)
