Nach dem Gemälde im Prado in Madrid (115x90 cm, Nr. 1639) geschaffenes Werk die Heilige Mutter Gottes mit entblößter Brust und auf ihrem Schoß stehendem Christuskind zeigend. Hinter diesem die Heilige Anna mit leisem Lächeln und velumgleichen Kopftuch, rechts vor einem architektonischen Versatzstück Josef seinen Kopf auf der Hand ruhend. Das Gemälde im Prado wurde von Velazquez für die „Salas de los Capitulos“ im Escorial ausgewählt und Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts von Padre de los Santos als „Lo mejor que hay en esta Casa al sentir de muchos“ beurteilt. (14008922) (13)
