Dreiviertelbildnis vor einem Feld mit blühendem Mohn unter wolkigem Himmel im Licht der fast untergegangenen Sonne. Die Frau mit vom Wind bewegten rot-braunen Haaren, entblößter linker Schulter und in ihrem hochgerafften Gewand ein Bündel mit Margeriten und gefülltem Mohn haltend. Den erhobenen Kopf hat sie zur Seite gewendet und blickt mit ihren großen, ausdrucksstarken Augen gedankenvoll in die Ferne. In virtuoser Malweise wiedergegebene Darstellung in typischer Malart des bekannten Künstlers.
Leopold Schmutzler studierte ab 1880 in Wien an der Akademie der bildenden Künste, ab Herbst 1882 Malerei in München. Er war ein begehrter Portraitist und malte Mitglieder des bayrischen Königshauses. (1400125) (18)
