A.R. (13209810) (1) (11

CORPUS CHRISTI IN FIRE-GILT BRONZE Height: 39 cm.
Width: 28 cm.
Depth: 9 cm.
The Corpus Christi is one of a series of small-format crucifixes created in Giambologna´s workshop. They predominantly date to the artist´s late period and stylistically dependent on the large-format depictions of Christ that the master created in Florence in 1588. The sculptor´s fame and high artistic reputation attracted several well-known students and employees, including Hubert Gerhard, Adriaen de Vries and Antonio Susini.
Overall, this bronze work is of museum-quality created by Jean Boulogne, who originated from Douai, settled in Italy in 1550 and henceforth became known as Giambologna.
